San Raymundo, Guatemala

During July 20-26, 2025, Peace Lutheran Church of Arvada, Colorado, sent 101 of its members and friends to San Raymundo, Guatemala, to work with the Casas por Cristo organization to build four small homes for homeless families in that region. They were divided into four work teams, named by the colors red, green, blue, and purple, of about 25 people each. Some of these photos highlight purple team activities; others apply to the entire group.

Because of the total size of the group, we had to be split into three flight sequences. I was on the last flight to arrive in Guatemala. As we approached our destination airport at Guatemala City there was much cloudiness. In the first clearing giving an identifiable view of a city I took this photo:

Later analysis using Google Earth revealed that this was our host city, San Raymundo, by coincidence. I was able to extract the city in the photo and annotate the image:

The first report, Casas Por Cristo.pdf, shows the new headquarters facilities in San Raymundo, then photos of the family for whom the "purple" team built their new home.

The next report, Building the Home.pdf, shows the stages of construction over three days by the "purple" team.

The third report, School Visit.pdf, highlights the visit of the "purple" team to a small Christian school on Friday.

Reflection report, God apparently used a large stuck truck to provide our sand and gravel teams Safety.pdf by blocking road traffic while we poured the concrete foundation.
