The congregation at Ephesus had been blessed by the ministries of Paul, Apollos, Priscilla and Aquila, Timothy, Tychicus, John, and other famous saints. Yet by about 95 A.D. John must write to them in Revelation 2:1-7, "You have forsaken your first love." Jesus calls them to "Repent and do the things you did at first." Jesus gave them a choice: Change and be given the right to eat of The Tree of Life (and live forever) or else have their church vanish from Ephesus.

Today neither the church nor the city remain. There are only city ruins and its coins, like this one, to show that Ephesus was once a great city that did not repent.
