Tarsus was the home city of Saul (Paul) and was the capital of Cilicia. For several years, about 39-43 A.D., Saul, though now zealous for the Lord, had to return to Tarsus for his own safety. There he lived in obscurity until Barnabas sought and found him. They then went to Antioch to begin some of the most important ministries of the Bible.
Sometimes the Lord makes us wait, study, and practice for awhile before giving us a greater mission.
